The weather today is London.
McDonalds was the breakfast menu.
8:30 We got ready to head out. The best way for people to know that you are a tourist is to walk around with a small walkie-talkie with headphones. Yes that is what we did. Took the bus to central London. Our tour guide reminded us to always stay on the right when we are on the escalator… which, if you have been to NYC you know that is the rule there as well. Stay out of people’s way.
Coming out from the underground we emerge right in front of the Palace of Westminster where we met our local tour guide named Peter. Peter showed us around the area and gave us an history lesson at the same time. The Big Ben makes another appearance once more. The Parliament Square and garden, St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, Henry VII Chapel, The Old Palace Yard which included the Jewel Tower. Then we walked to St. James’s Park, and our tour guide told us that 47 percent of London is green space. We had a coffee and toilet break at the park. Then we walked across the Blue Bridge and from there you can see the London eye and also the Buckingham Palace.
We were also able to watch the changing of the guards!
After that we started walking again…
Citadel built by Winston Churchill
Trafalgar Square
The strand
Took the bus to old London where the many of the medieval roads and buildings are still there till today.
St. Paul cathedral
The suspension bridge
Walked by Shakespeare theater
The remains of the Winchester Palace
Replica of an old ship the golden hide
Southward cathedral
Borough market
12:30 Took the Chewube to waterloo
Walked to the london eye, the view was amazing!
Then we walked to the embankment chewube station, and took the chewube to town hill.
Saw parts of the wall which used to surround london.
3:39 we got on the cruise…in order for us to elevate our class we enjoyed our afternoon high tea. An assortment of sandwiches, desserts and the best scones that i have ever eaten. My taste buds were blessed. If you wonder what kind of tea I got well….it’s Earl Gray tea.
The cruise took us right under the tower bridge and it was an amazing experience.
After running around almost all day..we decided to head back to the hotel to rest…
After awhile I headed out to SOHO! I was very curious to see if it is similar to NYC’s SOHO and my verdict is that it doeS…it felt very familiar.
Did some souvenirs, walked around and ate supper at a restaurant in chinatown.
This concludes the end of this busy but fun day.
We had an average of about 18,830 steps!
See you later,
Abigael
