The Friend At The Rest Stop

Life is somewhat like driving on the highway towards a certain destination in mind. On this trip we make a few stops. If you are like Brandt, and I a.k.a the small bladder gang then you will stop quite often. Anyway that’s besides the point. Before you get to the rest stop you already had plans of what exactly you are going to do there, get gas, use the restroom, and maybe buy some snacks or you stop just simply to stretch your legs. I don’t think anyone ever spends or plans to spend a lot of time at a rest stop well unless the rest stop was your final destination. Now this is where I liken it to our lives.
In our lives, there will be people, that are at our rest stops. They are that certain parts of our journey, and when we are ready to move on they do not come with us. And it is fine if they do not. There have been times when my friendship with people diminished over time, not because I didn’t like them anymore but because they were in my life for a purpose, and when it was time for me to move on, I couldn’t take them with me. In the book, My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers, this is one of the topic in the book. He said, “It is not wrong to depend upon Elijah as long as God gives him to you, but remember the time will come when he will have to go; when he stands no more to you as a your guide and leader, because God does not intend he should. You say- ‘I cannot go on without Elijah.’ God says you must.”
Appreciate the people you meet at the rest stops in your life. Often times they might be an angel in disguise.
Love, Abigael

In all cases whatever we dump in the rest room never goes with us and we always feel refreshed even though it’s just one stop . Let appreciate the moment when the need was met…………
